Idaho State opened the NCAA Track and Field West Preliminary round on Thursday at Sacramento State’s Hornet Stadium.

Daniel Garz placed 17th in the first round of the men’s 800-meter race, clocking in at 1 minute, 49.92 seconds. He qualified for Friday’s quarterfinal round.

Anna Gardom took 19th in the women’s javelin with a throw of 151 feet, 7 inches. Teammates Trevor Jensen and Treyshon Malone each placed 27th in the men’s hammer throw and men’s long jump, respectively.

Jenica Dodge was 40th in the women’s 10,000-meter semifinal and did not qualify for the finals.

Wyatt Didericksen placed 20th in the first round of the men’s 1,500-meter race and did not qualify for the next round.
