Highland 50, Hillcrest 38

POCATELLO - Senior Emma Filiaga scored 18 points in her first game of the season to help the Highland girls' basketball team beat visiting 4A Hillcrest, 50-38, on Wednesday at Highland High.

Filiaga sank 8-of-9 field-goal attempts, and as a team the 5A Rams shot 57 percent from the field.

"We executed well against the press and slowed things down," Highland coach Scott Hansen said. "We did a good job getting the ball in the paint and scoring. It was a team night. They all played well."

Senior post Breanne Van Every hit all three of her field goals and her three free throws to score nine points for the Rams.

Now 2-0 - with both wins against 4A schools - Highland visits 4A Pocatello at 7:30 tonight.
