POCATELLO — A power line issue near City Hall caused a temporary blackout impacting about 1,200 Idaho Power customers in central Pocatello on Sunday night.

The power outage happened around 7:30 p.m. due to the line issue occurring along North Eighth Avenue near the St. Anthony Place apartments.

Idaho Power personnel responded, made the necessary repairs and had electricity restored to everyone by 8:15 p.m.

The Pocatello Fire Department also responded to the line issue but previous reports that the incident involved a transformer fire were not correct.

Idaho Power confirmed Monday that there was no fire.

Idaho State Police and Pocatello police responded to the outage as well to direct traffic at intersections in the area of City Hall, the U.S. Courthouse and Bannock County Courthouse where traffic lights were impacted by the blackout.
