The Department of Music will host the annual Music Alumni Scholarship Concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Goranson Hall in the Fine Arts Building. Soloists include countertenor Von Bringhurst (’07) and baritone Jared Johnson (’10). Instrumental collaborators will be pianist Jeanne Green Sherman (’09), pianist Diane Yerka (’08 and MM ‘13) and guitarist Curtis Thompson (‘08), along with undergraduate pianist Ryker Harris. The program features art and folksongs, including the regional premiere of the 1995 song cycle “Encountertenor” by opera composer Jake Heggie. The event funds scholarships for the Department of Music. Admission is free, with a suggested donation of $5.

The Department of Art will host an opening reception for the ISU “MFA Art Sho 2018” exhibit from 6 to 7 p.m. Aug. 28 in the John B. Davis Gallery in the Fine Arts Building. The exhibition will include artwork produced by Joe Pehrson, Iris Lindemood, Rachelle Cooper, Bill Bybee, Nikyra Capson, Kyler Michaelson, Steven Oberg, and Kirk Young. The exhibit will be open in the Davis Gallery from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday until Sept. 20.

The Department of Art will host an opening reception for “Summer Sculpture Experience” in the compARTment Gallery in the Fine Arts Building on Aug. 28 from 6 to 7 p.m. The exhibit will feature works created during the Alternative Sculptural Methods class this summer. The class was a six-week, hands-on experimental course exploring a range of different media, techniques and forms. Ten artists will be exhibiting their works together: Alex Strong (student), Bryan Anderson (student), Janice Smith (student), Lynne Parker (student), Nava Reneau (student), Wendy Roberts (student), Kristol Coker (visiting artist), Joe Pehrson (visiting artist) and Frank Jordan (Career Path Intern) and Amy Jo Popa (instructor). The exhibit will be open in the compARTment from noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday until Sept. 20.

ISU women’s soccer will take on Wyoming at 4 p.m. Aug. 30 at Davis Field. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 children and senior and are available at isubengals.com or by calling 208-282-FANS. There will be an Orange & Black T-shirt Exchange. The first 50 fans will receive a free ISU T-shirt with the exchange of any other college or university shirt. Additional exchanges receive a $5 off coupon for any college or university shirt and $10 off coupon for any Boise State University shirt.

ISU football will take on Western State Colorado at 6:35 p.m. Aug. 31 in Holt Arena. Tickets are $18 for adults, $10 for children and seniors and $60 for Fun Zone (four tickets included) and are available at isubengals.com or by calling 208-282-FANS. The game is a whiteout; Fans are encouraged to wear white. ICCU will do a T-shirt giveaway, Idahoan will have a potato giveaway, and free finger lights will be available at the door.

ISU volleyball will take on Milwaukee at noon and Boise State at 7 p.m. in Reed Gym. Tickets are $7 for adults and $5 for children and seniors and are available at isubengals.com or by calling 208-282-FANS. The ISU Invitational is sponsored by ICCU.

The Department of Music will present a guest recital with pianist Roger McVey at 7:30 p.m. in the Jensen Grand Concert Hall. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $7 for faculty and staff, $5 for pre-college students, and free to ISU students.
