POCATELLO — National HIV Testing Day is June 26. To recognize this national event and to encourage residents of Southeast Idaho to know their HIV status, Southeastern Idaho Public Health will be conducting free HIV, Hepatitis C and syphilis testing for the entire month of June at all of their eight clinic locations. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that one out of seven people living with HIV don’t know they have it and four in 10 new HIV infections come from people who don’t know they’re infected. The decision to take an HIV test is the first step to keep yourself and those around you healthy. Southeastern Idaho Public Health also offers free condoms (no appointment necessary), reproductive health visits, birth control, immunizations and other health services on low-cost, sliding fee scales. Give us a call; we’re happy to answer your questions. Please come and see us for free testing if you can answer “yes” to any of the following questions:

1. Have you had unprotected sex?

2. Have you had sex with a new partner?

3. Have you injected drugs or steroids or shared equipment (such as needles, syringes, works) with others?

4. Have you been diagnosed with or treated for hepatitis, tuberculosis or a sexually transmitted disease, like chlamydia?

5. Have you had sex with someone who could answer yes to any of the above questions?
