blackfoot chamber of commerce

April Business Spotlight: Conquest InsuranceConquest Insurance is a family-owned and operated independent insurance agency located at 780 Jensen Grove Drive in Blackfoot. Jim started the agency in 1983 as an agency specializing in traditional insurance such as personal lines, commercial lines, work comp, life insurance, etc. The agency’s focus is on clients’ needs, customer service and competitive pricing.

In 2018, Jim and Julie’s son, JC, came to work for the family business. He found his niche in crop, agriculture and commercial business. So in 2025, the personal lines book was sold to Tower Insurance in Idaho Falls. We have three offices, one in Rocky Mount, North Carolina; one in Boise and Blackfoot. Blackfoot is the service center for all offices. JC is the owner of the crop division, and he will be taking over the commercial and agriculture side in the coming years.

Conquest Insurance appreciates its clients (past and future) — it always remembers that without them, it wouldn’t be here.

Dr. Smith said of his talk:

“Looking back on my time as executive director of the Bingham Crisis Center, I’ve gained valuable perspective on leadership, growth and the lessons that only come with experience.

“In this presentation, I’ll share 10 things I wish I knew during my time leading a nonprofit — insights that would have shaped how I led, communicated and navigated challenges. While these lessons come from the nonprofit world, they apply just as much to business owners and leaders in any field.

“My goal is to offer practical takeaways that help others feel more confident, prepared, and supported in their own leadership journey.

“Sometimes the best lessons are the ones we learn after the fact — and I’m excited to share them with you.”
