Oscar winner “Free Solo” plays this Sunday at 4:30 and 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater at the ISU Pond Student Union. This Best Documentary Oscar winner follows Alex Honnold as he attempts to become the first person to ever free solo climb Yosemite’s 3,000-foot-high El Capitan Wall. Heartland Film Festival winner “On the Basis of Sex” will be shown from March 26 through March 30 at 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater, with shows also at 9:45 p.m. on Friday and Saturday only. As a young lawyer, Ruth Bader Ginsburg struggles for equal rights, and the movie follows her early cases in a historic career that led to her eventual nomination and confirmation as U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justice. Oscar winning movie “If Beale Street Could Talk” is the feature on March 31 at 4:30 and 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater. Based on the acclaimed James Baldwin novel, a woman in Harlem embraces her pregnancy while she and her family struggle to prove her fiance innocent of a crime he didn’t commit. Golden Globe nominee “Stan & Ollie” will be shown April 7 at 4:30 and 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater.

Laurel and Hardy, the world’s most famous comedy duo, attempt to reignite their film careers as they embark on what becomes their swan song — a grueling theater tour of post-war Britain. Multiple Oscar nominee “Vice” plays on April 14 at 4:30 and 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater. Nominated for Best Picture, Actor, Supporting Actress and Director, this biopic is about former Vice President Dick Cheney, an unassuming bureaucratic Washington insider, who quietly wielded immense power as vice president to George W. And the semester will conclude with Cannes Film Festival winner “The Rider” showing on April 28, at 4 and 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater. It’s a free movie night, along with the film society’s semi-annual potluck and trailer party at 5:45 p.m. Voted “Best Movie of 2018” by the National Society of Film Critics, this Cannes Festival Winner and Independent Spirit Award nominee tells the story of a young cowboy who undertakes a search for new identity after suffering a near fatal head injury, as he tries to discover what it means to be a man in the heartland of America. All are welcome to attend. In between shows at 5:45 p.m., there will be a potluck and trailer party where we’ll show trailers of potential upcoming films and let people help choose what we’ll show this summer and fall.
