BLACKFOOT — Local candy shop The Candy Jar was among seven small businesses throughout the state selected by U.S. Sen. James Risch as Idaho Small Businesses of the Month for June 2026.

This recognition is part of Risch’s seventh annual “Support Local Gems” initiative, according to a news release. The other six businesses were Blue Fox Theater, Junkyard Jeans, Meat and Potato Company, New York Pizza Department, Ram’s Head Café and Lodge and Weiser Classic Candy.

“Idaho is full of small businesses that drive our economy and quality of life,” Risch said in the news release. “These local gems are outstanding examples of Idaho’s entrepreneurial spirit and deserve to be celebrated.”

Each of these small businesses reflects Idaho’s values of hard work, entrepreneurship and community service. All seven will be recognized for their contributions in the Congressional Record of the U.S. Senate.

The Candy Jar was founded by Judy and Paul Loomis in a renovated historic Main Street building. The news release said the Loomises created a haven of sweets with their business.

“The successful candy shop is a favorite treat of locals and visitors, offering an array of Idaho-made products,” the news release said.
