BLACKFOOT —The Bingham County Humane Society has received a grant from the Pet Friendly License Plate organization. This grant is targeted for Bingham County residents who live below the poverty level by offering very low-cost spay and neuter vouchers to help spay and neuter their feline pets and feral cats that they feed.
121 vouchers will be available for purchase. When they are gone, they are gone.
The price for the low-income vouchers will be:
— $35 Female spay, pet cats.
— $25 Male neuter, pet cats.
— $10 Trap, neuter, release feral cats. Requires mandatory ear tipping/notching.
To purchase the vouchers, qualified individuals must come in person to the Bingham County Humane Society building at 766 S. Broadway in Blackfoot on Tuesdays from 2 to 6 p.m.
The purchase of the grant-discounted vouchers will require proof of residency and proof of income, such as a tax return, year-end pay stubs or public assistance verification.
The Humane Society is asking residents to reach out to their friends and neighbors in Bingham County who could use help with fixing their cats, but who may not see this story.
The Bingham County Humane Society is a 501©(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting responsible pet ownership through low-cost spay/neuter programs and community education. It also operates a small shelter in Blackfoot where it cares for a limited number of cats while volunteers prepare those felines for adoption. They run completely on donations and the occasional grant. All the work is performed by a group of very dedicated, unpaid volunteers.
