A Boise woman was arrested Monday on suspicion of stealing more than $30,000 worth of jewelry from multiple hospice patients under her care.

Chyann Janes, 31, was booked into the Ada County jail on Monday and charged with one count of felony burglary, one count of felony grand theft, and one count of misdemeanor petit theft, online arrest and court records show. She was arraigned Tuesday afternoon.

Garden City police initially responded to a theft report on Sept. 19 in the area of Riverside Drive and Lakemont Lane, a department news release stated, and during their investigation learned that an in-home hospice aide had allegedly stolen over $30,000 worth of jewelry from multiple patients under her care.

Police ultimately identified Janes as the suspect, and believe she pawned several pieces of the stolen jewelry, the release said. Police seized the items from the pawn shops, and the victim’s husband identified them as the jewelry that was stolen from his late wife.

Police also believe Janes pawned a ring that was stolen from a hospice patient in Star.

Janes was arrested Monday after police conducted a traffic stop.

Her next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 6.
