The Black and Blue Bowl is here!

Highland looks to capture its 11th-straight victory over Pocatello on Friday in what is one of the more even Black and Blue Bowls of recent memory.

The Thunder (3-0) head into Friday ranked as the top team in 4A while the Rams (3-1) are No. 4 in 5A.

Stay tuned to this story for constant updates throughout the game.

FIRST QUARTER

HIGHLAND 7, POCATELLO 0, 7:47 -- Highland just marched down the field with ease. The Rams needed only needed nine plays to go 80 yards and find the end zone.

From the 9-yard line, Highland QB Jack Whitmer ran in the TD. Whitmer, a senior, was fantastic on that opening drive. He completed all three of his passes for 42 yards

-- Pocatello had a nice 11-play drive to open on offense but the drive stalled just outside the red zone and the Thunder couldn't convert on fourth down.

Will say, Poky showed a lot of good things on that drive, most notably this: RB Ryken Echo Hawk ran the ball five times for 39 yards.

HIGHLAND 14, POCATELLO 0, 1:49 -- On 3rd down, Jack Whitmer aired a deep pass down the seam to receiver Ezra Godfrey, who fielded the long ball and sprinted into the end zone.. The Pocatello defender dove at Godfrey's legs and missed.

Whitmer is currently 4 for 5 passing for 116 yards and a TD.

SECOND QUARTER

HIGHLAND 21, POCATELLO 0, 7:12 -- On a little dump pass, RB Eli Parrish just palmed the football with one hand, made a cut and dashed in for the 31-yard touchdown. Wow. All Highland so far.

Parrish has over 50 all-purpose yards. Whitmer up to 180 passing yards and three total TDs.

-- Pocatello punts again. Aside from that first drive, the Thunder haven't been able to get anything going offensively. QB Zach Park is currently 0-5 passing despite good protection from the Poky offensive line.

HIGHLAND 24, POCATELLO 0, 0:00 -- Ian Hershey drills a 25-yard field goal as the clock expired. It was all set up by a 48-yard bomb on third down from Jack Whitmer to Ezra Godfrey.

HALFTIME STATS:

Pocatello has only 71 yards of total offense (all rushing).

Highland QB is 13-16 for 246 yards and 2 TDs, adding 30 yds and a score rushing.

RB Eli Parrish has 62 all-purpose yards, including a TD.

WR Ezra Godfrey has caught 5 passes for 132 yards and a TD.

THIRD QUARTER

HIGHLAND 31, POCATELLO 0, 9:25 -- After a rough drive to open the half, Poky punted and gave Highland great field position. A few plays later, Luke Sidwell ran in an 8-yard touchdown.

HIGHLAND 31, POCATELLO 6, 5:43 -- Pocatello gets on the board in bizarre fashion. Quarterback Zach Park ran the ball and dove for the goal line, but fumbled just before he got in. Offensive lineman Spencer Robertson recovered it in the end zone for the touchdown.

FOURTH QUARTER

HIGHLAND 38, POCATELLO 6, 11:56 -- Highland lined up for a 20-yd field goal, but holder (and QB) Jack Whitmer took the snap and just bolted into the end zone.

HIGHLAND 41, POCATELLO 6, 7:41 -- Kicker Ian Hershey knocks down a 34-yard field goal to only increase the Rams' lead.

HIGHLAND 41, POCATELLO 14, 1:05 -- On a drive that lasted almost seven minutes and including a million penalties, Pocatello finds the end zone for the second time tonight. Junior Parker Aplington runs in the 1-yard touchdown.

FINAL:
Highland - 41
Pocatello- 14
