IDAHO FALLS — A Rigby man was killed Thursday morning in a head-on collision on Interstate 15 caused by a wrong-way driver, Idaho State Police said.

Mark Aaron Henry, 39, of Rigby, died at the scene of the crash, the Bonneville County Coroner's Office confirmed Thursday evening.

The collision occurred at 4:05 a.m. near the Highway 20 exit in Idaho Falls when a 65-year-old Rigby man driving a 2026 Chevrolet Traverse SUV entered the interstate northbound in the southbound lanes, state police said. The vehicle struck Henry's 2014 Chrysler Town & Country minivan head-on as it traveled southbound.

Authorities have not said whether the Traverse's driver was injured. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts, state police said.

"Our deepest condolences go out to the family and friends of the deceased during this difficult time," Bonneville County Coroner Shante Sanchez said. "We ask that the public and media respect the family's privacy as they grieve their loss."

The southbound lanes of Interstate 15 were blocked for approximately five hours following the crash. State police are investigating and have not released further details. The coroner's office said the case remains under investigation pending the results of all testing and reports.

State troopers were assisted at the scene by the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office, Bonneville County Fire District, Idaho Falls Fire Department, Idaho Falls Police Department and the Idaho Transportation Department.
