Another link to other states, Boise residents will be able to start traveling eastward or westward with the launch of Greyhound’s newest route, connecting the Pacific Northwest to the bus company’s national network.

The new Seattle-to-Denver route launches Wednesday and connects 13 total stops, one being in Boise. The route will run seven days a week with one trip per day in each direction, according to a Greyhound press release. Most notably for Boise residents, it will provide direct rides to the region’s larger cities.

The bus route will provide a direct trip to Seattle with no transfers, taking less than 10 hours and costing approximately $50 to $70, according to Greyhound’s website. A trip from Boise to Denver, a 15-hour drive, will cost approximately $80 to $90.

There are four stops in Washington, one in Oregon, one in Idaho, four in Utah and three in Colorado.

The route reinstates service between Pasco, Washington, and Salt Lake City which is, according to the press release, “a critical transportation link for communities along the corridor.” Boise’s stop is in between these two cities and is the sixth stop heading westward, right at the middle of the route.

It will also connect to important regional hubs including the Washington Intermodal Transit Center in Pasco, Oregon’s La Grande Station and the Vail Welcome Center in Colorado.

“This gives travelers year-round access to skiing, hiking, hot springs, and other outdoor activities in Vail (in Colorado) and the surrounding Rockies,” the press release reads.

According to the release, the expansion aims to increase long-distance travel options for residents in underserved areas, reflecting a rising demand for intercity bus travel.

“By connecting cities and smaller communities across the Pacific Northwest and Mountain West to key transit hubs and our national network, we’re making it easier for travelers to reach essential destinations, explore the region, and stay connected to opportunities across the country,” Karina Frayter, head of communications at Flix North America, parent company of Greyhound, said in the release.

Boise’s stop will see its inaugural ride Wednesday at 123 N. Orchard St. — the Chevron near the corner of Orchard and Bethel. Tickets are available at greyhound.com.
