AMERICAN FALLS — Firefighters have gained the upper hand on a wildfire burning in the farm fields and rough terrain northeast of American Falls.

The blaze was reported around 12:20 p.m. Saturday along Blind Springs Road and the flames subsequently spread to the area of Ramsey and Gas Plant roads.

Firefighters reported around 3:30 p.m. that they had contained the wildfire and were extinguishing the remaining hot spots.

The blaze did not result in any injuries, evacuations, damage to structures or road closures.

Authorities haven't yet commented on what could have caused the fire or how many acres were burned.

The public is being encouraged to stay away from the wildfire scene until the flames are fully extinguished.
