A tip from the Pocatello Police Department to parole officers with the Idaho Department of Correction in August 2024 led to the sentencing of two convicted fentanyl traffickers earlier this month at the federal courthouse in Pocatello.

U.S. District Judge David C. Nye sentenced Marcos Gallegos, 43, of Pueblo, Colo., to 188 months (over 15 years) in federal prison. His partner, Morgan Galloway, 25, of Pocatello, was sentenced to five years. They both were sentenced for possessing fentanyl with the intent to distribute it.

According to court records, probation and parole officers searched an apartment where Gallegos and Galloway were living in Pocatello on Aug. 22, 2024. Law enforcement found and seized 122.78 grams of fentanyl along with a firearm.

The police obtained a warrant to search a storage unit rented by Gallegos and Galloway and found and seized $28,000 in drug proceeds.

Gallegos and Galloway pled guilty to the charge on Dec. 11.

Nye ordered Gallegos’ 188-month prison sentence be served consecutively to the two seven-year sentences he’s currently serving for two Bannock County drug-related cases. Nye also ordered Gallegos to complete five years of supervised release following his prison sentence.

Nye ordered Galloway to complete four years of supervised release following her five-year prison sentence.
