BLACKFOOT—The remodeled Slaughter’s Realm Haunted Attraction has an all-new Egyptian realm, medieval setting, spooky carnival and chilling asylum to thrill visitors. This year, it has also added a nautical nightmare experience.

It has been working since January to create new, unique experiences for its third year of providing scares and screams in Slaughter’s Realm during the fall haunting season.

The Realm, located at 405 NE Main in Blackfoot, has been open for hauntings on Fridays and Saturdays since Sept. 19. Recently, it has added Thursday and Wednesday nights to its schedule, and on Halloween week, it will be open Monday through Saturday, with all experiences starting at 7 p.m.

Realizing that everyone has their own scare level, the Realm offers three experiences to choose from. Level one is a family-friendly experience where no hidden or visible monster will touch you or separate you from your companions. This level is appropriate for any age. Levels two and three are only for those at least 16 years old.

Level two allows contact with the citizens of the realm, including being touched, moved, pushed or sat down. You might even encounter water, so it is suggested that you be prepared. However, you will not be removed from your companions.

Level three guarantees full contact and that you will be removed from your group and encounter water. It is also possible you will be locked in a tight space at some point.

This Friday, there will be a Day Haunt from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., which will not have any scares at all. This experience will be a tour of the realms with only light, sound and smell effects — and a touch of fog. Curious about what the Slaughter Realm is, but don’t want to be scared? This is the experience for you.

On the opposite end of the scare scale is the Lights Out! Experience on the day after Halloween, Nov. 1. This one-time event will feature live monsters in total darkness. It promises “pure terror” for those who choose to enter.

All levels and experiences end with a surprise. You are warned.

Tickets range from $10 to $15, depending on the scare level. Some tickets are only available online at slaughtersrealm.com.

For those who can’t get enough thrills, there is one more attraction of the Realm this year. Wreck the Halls will be on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12 and 13, bringing holiday fear to one and all. Caution: This experience isn’t for small children or “those who still believe.”
