A Bingham County man faces a charge of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl on Nov. 27.

Reginald Gerald Radford is charged with lewd conduct with a minor under the age of 16. According to the criminal complaint, that carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment and a $50,000 fine. His bond was set at $75,000.

Bingham County Sheriff's deputies were dispatched to a Blackfoot residence after the victim's mother called authorities. The mother told deputies she allegedly saw the defendant's hand under a pillow placed on the victim's genital area.

According to the affidavit, the victim told her mother the his hand was inside her pants. During a forensic interview, the victim said this behavior reportedly occurred for the last 18 months, but this was the first time his hand went down her pants and underwear.

During Radford's interview with deputies, he said it was common for him to rub parts of the child's body but any sexual contact was accidental.

Radford is scheduled to be arraigned at 1 p.m. Dec. 22 before District Judge Darren B. Simpson at the Bingham County Courthouse in Blackfoot.
