POCATELLO — A flight nurse for Portneuf Air Rescue and his wife started a business that sells several different types of first-aid kits.

Scott Strupp owns First Action Rescue with his wife, Angela, who is a former firefighter EMT and an AHA-certified instructor. He said they started the business around April after they taught first aid at a concealed carry class.

"We did a concealed carry class where we taught the trauma portion," he said. "We taught basic stop the bleed type stuff."

Strupp said after the class, he and his wife had people asking them questions about where they could get kits like the ones they used. This led them to decide to make their own.

"We decided to start a business building them," he said. "We spent about nine months doing research."

Strupp said they get the supplies for the kits from several companies such as North American Rescue.

"We wanted the highest quality supplies in our kits," he said.

Strupp said they sell three types of kits on their website: an everyday kit, a trauma kit and a kit that is a combination of the two.

"That's the one we personally carry in our vehicles," he said.

Strupp said they also make custom kits that can be requested on the website.

"We customize kits for a lot of people as well," he said. "We can discuss what their needs are and if they want more or less of something."

Strupp said there has been interest in the first-aid kits. They have been teaching first-aid classes in Pocatello and Rigby, and they are looking to start teaching in Idaho Falls as well.

"That's how we gained some interest," he said. "There's a lot of interest in learning to help yourself and others in an emergency."
