CHUBBUCK — Target has announced that the Pine Ridge Mall will be the future home of one of the retail chain’s stores.
Target’s brief announcement stated that the store will be located at the mall and will be approximately 128,000 square feet in size.
Chubbuck Mayor Kevin England is super excited about the news, saying that when he became mayor in 2014 local residents told him they wanted to see a Hobby Lobby, Olive Garden and Target come to Chubbuck.
With Hobby Lobby and Olive Garden opening Chubbuck locations since then, Target was all that remained on that wish list.
England’s thankful it will soon become a reality.
“We’re tickled to death to have Target coming to town,” England said. “We’re excited for the day they’ll open their doors. This is something lots of people have asked for and we’re excited to have the opportunity to bring it to our area.”
The mall’s new owner, SimonCRE, a national development and acquisition firm headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona, told the Idaho State Journal that its plans to rebuild the mall as an outdoor shopping venue are underway and will continue through 2025 with a completion date not yet finalized.
The news of Target coming to the mall is especially good considering that the mall’s oldest current anchor store, JCPenney, has announced it will be closing its doors on May 25.
Further details about the Pine Ridge Mall Target haven’t been released, but the store’s expected to be part of a shopping center that will be built on the mall property as part of its rebuild.
SimonCRE issued the following statement about Target’s announcement: “We’re thrilled to confirm that Target will be joining the Pine Ridge Mall development as an anchor tenant. This milestone represents an exciting step forward in the redevelopment of Pine Ridge Mall, reinforcing its role as a key retail destination in the thriving Chubbuck community. Target’s presence will not only enhance the shopping experience but also attract further growth and investment to the area. We look forward to the positive impact this will have on the community and the continued momentum of the center’s revitalization.”
