Apprenticeships at Idaho Businesses have shot up considerably in the past two years, according to a news release from the Idaho Department of Labor.
The number of apprenticeships rose 67 percent from 2016 to now, and the number of Idaho Businesses offering apprenticeship programs more than doubled, according to the news release.
Idaho Department of Labor Director Melinda Smyser said in the news release that the number of training centers, technical schools and other training programs that offer participants job-ready career training.
“Our goal is to provide workers with the specific skills that meet the needs of Idaho employers,” Smyser said in the news release. “We do that by supporting a combination of structured learning with on-the-job training. Idaho’s earn-and-learn model allows us to do that, and at the same time, keep down student debt.”
