Boise Gun Company, Inc. has shut its doors after 25 years in business. The company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Feb. 27 and has closed its Nampa and Garden City stores.

The inventory at the Nampa store, not including firearms, will be liquidated at a live auction on April 20. The Garden City inventory at 4105 N. Adams St. will be liquidated over six days from May 21-26.

Since the announcement of the closure and bankruptcy, Boise Gun Company has taken down its website and Facebook pages for both stores. Representatives could not be reached for comment.

Chapter 11 bankruptcy can allow for a debtor to propose a plan of reorganization to keep its business alive and pay creditors over time, according to the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts.

The bankruptcy filing says Boise Gun Company has total liabilities of $3.8 million and assets worth $2.7 million. The company has over 200 creditors and owes the state more than $22,000 in sales tax from 2017 and 2018. The company also owes banks, gun vendors and advertisers.

Boise Gun Company also filed for bankruptcy in October 2015, according to the filing in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the District of Idaho.

Attempts to reach a Boise Gun Company representative through Facebook and over the phone were unsuccessful, and the company’s attorney, Matthew Todd Christensen, was not available for an interview.

Gary Hopper, one of company’s proprietor, told the Idaho Press-Tribune in December that his stores saw boost in sales over Black Friday, though not as much as a typical year.

AUCTION

Corbett Auctions & Appraisals, Inc. will hold a live auction of inventory at Boise Gun Company’s Nampa store. The auction will include ammunition, scopes, reloading supplies, leather belts and gun cases, as well as store fixtures such as cases and shelving, according to the auction company’s website.

The live auction will start at 10 a.m. April 20 at 2730 Sundance Road in Nampa. An auction preview will take place April 19 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
