CHUBBUCK — Chipotle Mexican Grill in Chubbuck will be closing its doors at the end of this month.

The restaurant, which is located at 4013 Yellowstone Ave., has announced that its last day will be July 25.

According to Reuters, the Denver-based company announced last month that it would be closing up to 65 underperforming stores across the country. The closures are part of a restructuring plan that includes changing up the menu and revitalizing the company’s marketing strategy.

Founded in 1993, Chipotle has more than 2,000 locations and more than 45,000 employees. The restaurant specializes in tacos, burritos and salads.

The Chipotle Mexican Grill in Chubbuck, which opened in August 2016, was part of a wave of new restaurants and businesses that have opened in the Pine Ridge Mall area over the past few years.

But since December, the area has seen some of these businesses close down, including Black Bear Diner, Taco John’s and Herberger’s.

Chubbuck Mayor Kevin England said he is saddened by the news, but he also said these recent closures were corporate decisions and that the city is continually focused on economic development in the area.

England also said that a number of new restaurants have shown interest in setting up shop in the Pocatello/Chubbuck area.

“It always breaks our hearts when businesses leave, but we’re confident that more businesses will come,” England said.
