Florida authorities arrest NC State's ex-head trainer accused of sex abuse of Wolfpack male athletes
N.C. State’s former director of sports medicine faces felony and misdemeanor criminal charges after being accused of sexually abusing former Wolfpack male athletes under the guise of treatment. Authorities in Florida arrested Robert M. Murphy Jr. on Wednesday night. He was being held on out-of-state fugitive warrants from North Carolina. Wake County District Attorney Lorrin Freeman says a grand jury indicted Murphy on nine felony counts of sexual contact under pretext of medical treatment and 23 counts of sexual battery. More than 30 athletes have accused Murphy of misconduct in civil lawsuits dating to 2022.
Police in London have said English cricket player Robin Das has been charged with two counts of rape. The 24-year-old Das plays for county team Essex. The Metropolitan Police says in a statement that he was arrested on Aug. 27, 2025, following an investigation into reports that a woman was raped in Brixton in London on March 30, 2024. The police force says Das was charged with two counts of rape on July 23 this year. It says he attended Croydon Magistrates’ Court on Sept. 11 and will appear at Inner London Crown Court on Oct. 9.
Harvey Weinstein has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in New York in 2006. Weinstein’s sentencing Wednesday for sexually assaulting one-time TV production assistant Miriam Haley followed a legal odyssey spanning more than six years after he was first convicted and sentenced in 2020. In 2024, New York’s highest court erased the disgraced movie producer’s conviction and ordered a new trial. Tried for a second time last year, Weinstein was again convicted of a first-degree criminal sex act involving Haley. Weinstein apologized in court Wednesday, but he maintains he never sexually assaulted anyone. He is expected to appeal.

The social media influencer known online as “Clavicular” has been charged with raping a 17-year-old girl at his family’s Cape Cod home. The girl told police in Massachusetts that he knew she was 17, gave her vodka and instructed her to tell his livestream viewers that she was 18 and drinking water. She said she became heavily intoxicated, fell asleep and awoke the next morning to Peters raping her. Clavicular’s given name is Braden Peters. The 20-year-old is a prominent figure in the online “looksmaxxing” trend, which focuses on improving physical appearance. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 14.

The man who sprayed vinegar at Democratic U.S. Rep. Ilhan Omar during a Minneapolis town hall has been sentenced to 14 months in prison. Anthony Kazmierczak was sentenced Thursday, nearly eight months after the Jan. 27 assault. He was also sentenced to three years of supervised release, which includes no contact with Omar. At the time of the attack, Minneapolis-St. Paul was subject to a federal immigration crackdown that led to angry protests, arrests and the deaths of two U.S. citizens. Kazmierczak was unable to explain his actions during an earlier hearing. Omar was not hurt in the attack and Kazmierczak pleaded guilty to assaulting a U.S. officer.
