POCATELLO — Representatives from Lookout Credit Union recently presented a generous donation to the Pocatello/Chubbuck School District 25 high school administration and athletic directors.

The $36,000 donation was raised during the Lookout Shootout Golf Tournament held in honor of John McCarthy, according to a news release from Lookout Credit Union. The money raised for this year's tournament is a record.

The funds will be divided between the Pocatello, Highland and Century high schools and will support athletics and other extracurricular activities for students who wouldn't be able to otherwise participate.

BJ Fillingame, vice president of marketing at Lookout Credit Union said in the news release that this amount of funding is a great milestone for the company.

"This incredible milestone isn't just about dollars raised," Fillingame said in the news release. "It's about lives changed. Every swing, every donation, every participant played a part in making a lasting impact on local learners."

The golf tournament is held every year in honor of former teacher John McCarthy, who passed away back in 2003. McCarthy spent years supporting athletics, extracurricular activities and community involvement.

Lookout Credit Union is proud to continue McCarthy's legacy by holding this tournament every year. It expressed gratitude for everyone who made the tournament possible.
