Pocatello Art Center Gallery, 444 N. Main St., invites you in to view their Caricature & Portrait Show. The exhibit will be open through Sept. 19 with special extended hours Friday during Art Walk, from 5 to 8 p.m., when they will be celebrating the completion of the year-long caricature project. The caricatures were created by local artist Bob Beason. It was generously funded by the Ashcroft/Yost Foundation in memory of sisters Ruth, Naida and Faye; the project honors the lives, personalities and legacies of senior citizens and older adults throughout Southeast Idaho.
Over the past year, Beason, along with representatives from the Pocatello Art Center, visited senior centers and care facilities throughout the region, including the local veterans home. Each month, Beason drew several seniors, capturing not only their likenesses but also their humor, character and unique spirit. The finished original drawings were framed and presented to the seniors as gifts.
Nearly 100 caricatures were completed during the project. Copies of the drawings are now on display so the community can view the full collection of portraits and celebrate the remarkable people who inspired them. The Art Center wanted to shine a light on the beauty, humor and humanity of our citizens, particularly our veterans.

At 10 p.m., the Shady Grove Downtown Late Shows begin. The First National Bar will host Jelly, Hot Pursuit and Spudmother! Misfitz will host The Gerds, Modern Methods and Guava Tree. And Barricade will host KRC, Charm Quick and Weird Science. Music runs through 1:30 a.m.

The Portneuf Resource Council will be holding its annual Southeast Idaho Electric Car Show in Pocatello Saturday, Sept. 26, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in conjunction with National Drive Electric Month. The show will be next to the Portneuf Valley Farmers Market, at Lookout Point, in the south parking lot next to the Marshall Public Library. Seasoned local electric vehicle owners will be showing their electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles and will be able to answer questions about range, cost, maintenance, charging and more.
