IDAHO FALLS — The 2021 MasterChef winner, Santosh Shah, a chef known for bringing Nepali food to the world of fine dining, is coming to Idaho Falls for a special event that will introduce local residents to his food.

Roshan Kumar, owner of Himalayan Flavor, said Shah was originally born in Nepal. He has had experience working in several restaurants throughout his career. He is coming to Idaho Falls on Nov. 9.

"It will be a nine-course menu," Kumar said. "It's exciting that he's coming to Idaho Falls for the first time."

Shah's visit to Idaho Falls is part of a larger tour during which he will travel throughout the United States and hold similar events as a way to encourage people to try Nepali food.

"Idaho Falls is his first stop for the U.S. tour," Kumar said.

The event will feature a blend of both Nepali and Western cuisine, giving people a mix of foods that will be both new and familiar.

"People will get to try some unique variety of his food that they have never experienced or had in their life," Kumar said.

Kumar looks forward to having Shah in his restaurant. He is excited to have a professional chef come in and help people have a greater appreciation for Nepali cuisine.

"I feel privileged and excited to have him in," Kumar said. "It's a great honor to introduce people to different culinary arts. We're fortunate to have chef Santosh Shah leading our culinary team at the Idaho Falls location."

Anyone who wants to come to the event will need to purchase tickets and there is limited seating available at the event. Tickets can be purchased on Himalayan Flavor's website, himalayanflavorif.com, until the end of October.

The Idaho Falls Himalayan Flavor is located at 501 Park Ave. The event will be held Saturday, Nov. 9, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
