A new catering business has opened in Pocatello, offering custom menus with homemade food for any occasion.
Sara Blattner, owner of Le Cordon Blonde, said she has been open since June and has already found success in the community. Her business operates out of Portneuf Valley Brewery.
“When I’m not at an event, I do all my prep there,” Blattner said. “They have a beautiful loft that’s an open venue to me.”
Blattner has been catering for years. She studied at Le Cordon Bleu in Arizona, and her meals are customized to whatever the customer wants.
“I just love food,” Blattner said. “I have a huge background in food.”
Le Cordon Blonde does not have a set menu. During her time in business, Blattner has prepared several different kinds of food for customers depending on their wants and needs.
“It’s been everything from a raw oyster bar to roast and shrimp and chicken,” Blattner said. “Everything is made from scratch.”
Blattner has catered events including the employee Christmas party at the Idaho State Veterans Home. She has also catered for Idaho State University President Robert Wagner and his wife.
“It’s been surprisingly well received,” Blattner said. “It fills my soul.”
Toward the end of January, Blattner plans to start a delivery service for Le Cordon Blonde. She will offer the service on the first and third Thursday of each month.
“The menus will change each month,” Blattner said. “I’ll deliver meals you can pop in the oven. Salads, soups, everything from scratch.”
Blattner is also encouraging customers to contact her if they know someone who may be struggling to put food on the table so she can deliver meals to them.
“Everything will be on my website to order meals,” Blattner said. “It’s all about the people.”
Blattner plans to become more involved with the Chamber of Commerce. She looks forward to catering more events and becoming more involved with the community.
“It’s been a lot of fun so far,” Blattner said.
