THOMAS — For the second time in as many nights the two time defending 3A State Champion Snake River Panthers cruised to a 3-0 win, downing South Fremont 25-22, 25-10 and 25-20 for a quick non-conference victory at Snake River High School on Wednesday evening.
"We committed about six service errors in game one which led to about 12 points for them but game two went a little bit more like I expected it to," Snake River head coach Shelli VanOrden said. "Honestly I think that our girls have a little too much homecoming on their minds."
Snake River had a pair of hitters reach double-digits in the stat column with Brylie Bair leading the charge with 17 kills and Makena Shelley pounding home 13 in the win.
Raegen Martin guided the offense with 34 assists while also adding 11 digs on the defensive end of the floor.
"We were without Hannah [Murdoch] tonight and I thought that Billie [Gibson] played well for us," Coach VanOrden said. "She normally doesn't serve or play back row for us and she did a pretty good job."
Snake River will be back in action today when they travel to Sugar-Salem. The Panthers will be looking for a season sweep of the Diggers as they won on their home court on opening night in four games.
"Tomorrow nights game will be a good measuring stick on whether we have improved or not," Coach Van Orden said.
