Former Highland High standout and BYU quarterback Taysom Hill signed to play with the Green Bay Packers as a free agent Saturday after going undrafted in the seven-round NFL draft.
Hill is coming off a five-year career at BYU, where he found his place in the school record books. He totaled 2,815 yards rushing, which is No. 1 all-time among Cougars signal callers. He also placed fourth in career offense with 9,744 yards, and sixth in total touchdowns with 32.
Hill, 26, led Highland to the 5A state championship in 2008, when he was named Gatorade Idaho Player of the Year and All-Idaho Player of the Year. Hill declined the Journal’s request for an interview Saturday but said he would be available for comment next week.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport first reported Hill’s deal with the Packers.
