An 82-year-old Nampa resident, Jean Knowlton, died Sunday morning from injuries sustained in an accidental fall from a horse.

A spokesperson for the Western Idaho Fair confirmed that a woman fell from a horse while preparing for a competition Aug. 30. While the fair was unable to confirm her identity due to privacy laws, they said that lifesaving measures were attempted on the woman and that she was transported to Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center in Boise.

Knowlton was pronounced dead at Saint Alphonsus at 10:24 a.m. after lifesaving efforts proved unsuccessful, per the Ada County Coroner’s Office.

The cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma to the chest and abdomen.
