CHUBBUCK — A compact SUV careened off a local road and crashed into a house north of Chubbuck on Saturday afternoon.
The Cadillac XT5, driven by an adult female, was headed southbound on Hiline Road north of Tyhee Road around 3:10 p.m. when it left the roadway, smashed through a tree and then slammed into the home, causing heavy damage to the residence, authorities said.
The adult female driver, the vehicle’s only occupant, was not injured during the crash. Her name hasn’t been released.
The compact SUV traveled about 100 feet off Hiline Road before hitting the house.
The people who reside at the home were not there when the crash occurred.
Despite the damage to the house, authorities determined it was structurally sound, so the residents were allowed to reoccupy the home and were not displaced.
Fortunately, the home is insured.
The compact SUV was totaled in the crash.
The female driver was cited for inattentive driving by Bannock County sheriff’s deputies following their investigation.
The North Bannock Fire Department also responded to the incident.
