PRESTON — That Famous Preston Night Rodeo is set to begin Thursday through Saturday, July 30-Aug. 1 at 8:30 p.m. every night. In addition to those events, slack will be held on Wednesday, July 29 and is open to the public free of charge.
Each night will feature rodeo announcer Justin McKee, rodeo clown JJ Harrison and specialty act Stellar Trick Riding Cowgirls.
The City of Fun Carnival will be set up east of the rodeo arena from July 29- Aug. 1 with Family Night on Thursday.
Every night the order of events will be the same, beginning with a pre-rodeo program, introduction of visiting royalty and the National Anthem.
Next up is Bareback Riding, Steer Wrestling, Mutton Busting and Team Roping, followed by a new addition this year of a stagecoach presentation by Quanta Express Stagecoach. The stagecoach is a meticulously handcrafted, horse-drawn vehicle custom-built by Hansen Wheel & Wagon Shop, which frequently tours major rodeos across North America to support the utility and energy industries.
After the stagecoach will be Saddle Broncs, the Stellar Trick Riding Cowgirls specialty act, Breakaway Roping and the Clown act. The rodeo will conclude with Barrel Racing and Bull Riding.
On Saturday night, the finale will be an extraordinary drone show.
The Rodeo Committee is made up of eight members who work tirelessly year-round to make the rodeo a memorable and successful event.

“Those assignments entail a lot more than just those one or two words!” said Beckstead. “To build a new arena, fill it with 7000 people per night, put together a production with acts, clowns, contestants, contractors, animals and be prepared for anything to happen, is a yearlong job! Passion for the event and love of our community inspires us all to do it year after year.”
