POCATELLO — The annual Spring Fair has once again graced the Gate City with one of the largest home and garden showcases in Southeast Idaho.
Over 200 vendors are in attendance this year at Idaho State University’s ICCU Dome, selling a variety of goods and services. Admission is $5 with those ages 12 and under getting in for free with the purchase of an adult ticket. The Spring Fair began Thursday and will continue Friday from noon to 9 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There are plenty of captivating vendor booths for attendees to experience along with eye-catching displays and a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Dazzling shimmering crowns set with faux sapphires, emeralds and rubies are displayed on the wall of one vendor’s offerings, along with sets of sorcerer inspired wands for the discerning witch or wizard.
Beautiful butterflies stir gently in an enclosed insect display in another section of the dome, allowing paying customers to come visit and hand feed the colorful insects.
Nearby, another merchant displays a selection of enchanting rings, gemstones and geodes which sparkle under the luminescent glow of the lights above.
The delectable smells of food and sweet confections filled the air as more people began to arrive at the ICCU Dome on Thursday. A plethora of food vendors sold a variety of culinary delights such as oversized corndogs, baby-blue sweet macarons, walnut fudge, sheets of peanut brittle and an assortment of tacos, burgers and even nougat-filled ropes of sour neon licorice.
An Arrowcopter flying toy floated above before lazily descending back into the hands of a young adolescent boy. All around there is a bustle of customers craving curious commodities. The masses meander down past the booths offering home and garden services where an inviting patio swing rests on an expanse of green artificial turf.
One vendor offers vintage style Disney posters and rare animation cels of classic movies. Dinosaurs face off on an old poster with the words “Primeval World” displayed across the top. Other vintage posters include the likes of “Splash Mountain” and “Jungle Cruise” along with a “Pirates of the Caribbean” display from a bygone era.
One cannot miss the abundant 3D-printed multicolored, articulated dragons popping up across a number of the kid friendly booths at the fair.
The usual assortment of hot tubs, dirt bikes, luxury trucks, boats and campers fill the fair’s perimeter.
For anyone looking to rest their feet or world-weary head at the fair, large Lazy Boy-style massage chairs and electronic rhythmic massage guns are being offered by a pair of businesses.
All around the fair on Thursday were stunning displays of original artwork, apparel, cookware and toys with a wide variety of services offered by contractors, financial advisers, lawn care providers and numerous others.
This year’s Spring Fair offerings surely promise to delight and entice adults and children alike.
