A 67-year-old Preston area farmer was found dead Monday at his farm at 4323 East Glendale Road, according to a news release from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.

Dennis Webster was found unresponsive Monday evening and emergency personnel responded immediately. They found Webster deceased, lying on the ground in the barn.

It appears that the longtime resident and farmer was manipulating some large bales of hay. While doing so, two bales from above fell near or on Webster, causing him to fall and hit his head, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

The department released his body to the coroner’s office.

“Dennis was a life-long resident of the Preston area and was a great neighbor and friend,” said Franklin County Sheriff Dave Fryar. “He was a personal friend of mine and will be missed by so many. We at the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office express our sincere sympathy to his wife and children, along with all those who are directly impacted by this accident. Our prayers will be for them at this time.”
