CHUBBUCK — The Portneuf District Library is gearing up for a jam-packed July with a variety of summer programs and activities for youths and adults.
In celebration of the outdoor cooking season, Portneuf District Library will highlight its collection of books on grilling. Patrons are invited to visit the featured resource display, where they can find books to inspire them with new recipes and techniques. The featured resource display can be found at the library’s main service desk.
The library will host its Read-What-You-Want Book Club for patrons ages 18 and up at 1 p.m. July 2. Attendees can chat about what they are currently reading, discuss what others are reading and enjoy snacks.
The library will be closed July 4 in observance of the Independence Day holiday.
Regular summer programming will resume July 7 with STEM activity kits for kids 18 and under. Kids’ STEM activity kits can be picked up at the library’s east lawn every Tuesday from noon to 2 p.m.
Teen Grab and Go activity kits for kids ages 12 to 18 will be available for pickup in the Teen Zone every Tuesday and Thursday after noon. Art activity kits for kids 18 and under will be available on the east lawn from noon to 2 p.m. every Thursday. Any remaining kits can be picked up from the library’s main desk.
Portneuf District Library’s Summer Storytime will be Wednesdays and Thursdays at 10:30 a.m.
The Story Walk program will be held Fridays, when picture books in posters are placed along the sidewalk across the street at Stuart Park.
Beginning July 8, the library will host a special guest for a STEM activity every Wednesday in July. Guests will include the University of Idaho Extension Office’s nutrition experts and representatives from Idaho Power. Patrons of all ages are invited to visit the library at 1 p.m. to join in on the learning and fun.
Teen Late Night will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. July 10. Teen Late Night is a casual hangout for kids ages 12 to 18 with snacks and optional activities. Interested attendees can check Portneuf District Library’s Facebook and Instagram accounts the week of the event for details.
Cozy Corner, a monthly art or craft activity for adults ages 18 and up, will take place July 21 and 22. Crafting sessions will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. and 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. both days. During the month of July, patrons can meet in the Cozy Corner to decorate wooden picture frames.
July 27, patrons ages 18 and up can stop by the library’s main service desk to pick up a take-home craft kit. One craft kit will be available per patron while supplies last. This month’s kit will include supplies to make a summer garland.
The library will host movies in the Teen Zone July 28. Guests of all ages can stop by the library at 3:30 p.m. to enjoy a movie.
To mark the end of summer reading, the library will host a Star Wars party from 6 to 8 p.m. July 31. Patrons can stop by to enjoy games, treats and more.
