UPDATED STORY
The Madison County Sheriff's Office is reporting that on Thursday morning around 10:22 a.m., several people called in to 911 about a crash on U.S. Highway 20 near Sugar City near milepost 339.
"First responders arrived on scene and found that a semi-truck pulling a pup trailer and a passenger vehicle had collided, causing both vehicles to leave the roadway and go through a fence," said the sheriff's office on its Facebook page.
According to the post, several agencies such as Madison County Fire, Idaho State Police, the Idaho Transportation Department and Rexburg Police assisted in extricating the drivers and providing medical care.
"After working on the scene, the female driver of the passenger vehicle was pronounced deceased," said the sheriff's office. "The male driver of the semi-truck was treated on scene and was not transported."
The sheriff's office stated the crash remains under investigation and that next-of-kin are being notified.

A car and a semi pulling two trailers collided on U.S. Highway 20 near milepost 339 Thursday afternoon.
Officials haven’t assigned blame for the crash and haven't said what caused the accident. The name of the person in the car and the truck driver’s name have not yet been released. It wasn't known if the truck driver was hospitalized. An ambulance was on scene.
According to the Madison County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page, several “assisting agencies” arrived to help. One of those helping was the Idaho State Police.
Following the accident, law enforcement shut down southbound traffic.
“Motorists experienced significant delays as first responders worked the scene,” stated the sheriff’s office.
Officials reopened the highway around 1 p.m.
The incident is currently under investigation.
