POCATELLO — After three years in the making, Extreme Rush will finally open its doors to area residents in the first quarter of 2026.
In just over five weeks, the long-awaited Extreme Rush entertainment complex will be completed, bringing the Gate City high-octane go-karts, laser tag, a children’s play area, an arcade and interactive holographic displays.
Plans have been in place for the entertainment facility for more than three years, but it wasn’t until late September that owners Sidney Davis and Jason Hebdon were able to get their contractor to begin transforming the 38,000-square-foot building that formerly housed Big Lots at 1000 Pocatello Creek Road.
The owners initially hoped Extreme Rush would be ready before Christmas but revised their timeline to the first quarter of 2026 to fully finish the facility.
“This is the first time we’re doing a project of this magnitude,” Davis said. “We were pushing really hard, but we just don’t know realistic timelines on how long it takes for everything to go. We had to strip the building down all the way to the studs and then build it back up.”
Part of those preparations included getting the site ready after applying for a certificate of occupancy, including proper fire suppression systems and bathrooms, among other requirements.
“It’s probably 90 percent framed,” Davis said. “All (the contractors) have to do is finish the kitchen and finish the upper mezzanine area in the back corner, and then they can start sheet-rocking. The laser tag arena is complete, the sheetrock is painted, it’s ready to go. The VIP rooms are completely sheet-rocked. They need to be taped and mudded. But after this week, they’re going to move into the front of the building, where the manager offices are and the ticket booth is going to be and the (prize) redemption counter. We’re looking at probably four to five weeks for sheet-rocking to be completely done.”
The go-kart track is currently nearing completion, too, with Davis predicting a final date around the second or third week of January. By next week, the laser tag arena will be installed along with other attractions like the arcade and pixel floor.
If all goes to plan, the Extreme Rush facility could be ready by early March.
