More snow is in the forecast for East Idaho this weekend as yet another storm barrels through the region.
The storm comes after a series of preceding winter weather systems that rolled through East Idaho including a blizzard that arrived Thursday and lingered into Saturday.
The incoming storm arrived in East Idaho on Saturday afternoon and is forecast to continue dumping snow on the region through Sunday afternoon.
Several inches of snow are in the forecast for much of East Idaho during that time frame along with 45 mph winds.
Some local roads are expected to become impassable because of the snow and wind.
"Travel could be very difficult. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility," the weather service said. "If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency."
The Emigration Summit area of Bear Lake County is forecast to receive the most snow from the storm — up to 13 inches Saturday afternoon through Sunday afternoon.
Up to 7 or 8 inches of snow is forecast to fall during that time frame on the Albion, Almo, Malta, Rockland, Arbon, Holbrook, Inkom, McCammon, Downey, Arimo, Lava Hot Springs, Malad, Preston, Thatcher, Pocatello, Chubbuck, Blackfoot, American Falls, Shelley, Firth, Fort Hall, Burley, Rupert, Heyburn, Declo, Raft River and Oakley areas.
Up to 6 inches of snow is forecast for the Victor, St. Charles, Paris, Montpelier, Georgetown, Grace, Bancroft, Soda Springs, Henry, Bone, Wayan, Palisades and Swan Valley areas while up to 5 inches of snow could fall on the Driggs, Tetonia, Rexburg, Rigby, Atomic City, Idaho National Laboratory, Craters of the Moon and Arco areas.
The rest of East Idaho including the Dubois, Spencer and Island Park areas could receive around an inch of snow from the storm.
East Idaho's higher mountains could receive as much as 20 inches of snow on Saturday and Sunday and avalanche warnings are in effect.
Elsewhere in the state, winter storm warnings are in effect in south central Idaho including the Twin Falls and Jerome areas and in southwest Idaho including the Boise and Mountain Home areas. Winter weather advisories and wind chill warnings are in effect in North Idaho.
Severe winter weather warnings are also in effect in all of the states surrounding Idaho because of the storm.
