POCATELLO — A new discount store opened in Pocatello last month and it's already proving to be a good location for treasure hunters searching for hidden gems.
Aaron Russell owns It's Bin Fun with his wife, Tallie. The discount store is located at 675 Yellowstone Ave., Suite C. It had its grand opening event early last month.
"We get retail overstock and returns," Russell said. "It's mostly from Amazon or Target. Sometimes we get items from Walmart and other places."
It's Bin Fun is closed every Thursday so the items can be stocked onto 44 tables spread throughout the store. On Fridays, everything is on sale for only $9. The price gradually goes down until Wednesdays when everything is $1.
"We get everything you can get on Amazon," Russell said. "We get toys, clothes and electronics."
A few customers at It's Bin Fun have found high-end items while they were there. Some of these items include iPads, Oura rings and Amazon Kindles.
"We've got a lot of other items like bed sheets," Russell said. "It's a bit of a treasure hunt. A lot of the stuff, you don't know what it is until you find it. You find some pretty cool treasures."
Russell and his wife opened It’s Bin Fun because they have wanted to run a business together for a long time, and they had seen stores like this work in other places.
"We thought this would be a good opportunity," Russell said. "We knew there wasn't one in Pocatello and thought we'd give it a go."
There has been a lot of interest in It's Bin Fun so far. There are lines of over 100 people on Fridays waiting to see what's available, and on Wednesdays when the price is only $1 they are even bigger.
"We have a flood of people coming in," Russell said. "We're very happy about it."
Russell said the best part about It's Bin Fun has been watching customers find unique items. They always get excited when they find hidden gems they didn't know were there.
"We've got a lot of repeat customers already," Russell said. "People have a different shopping experience here."
It's Bin Fun is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Fridays. It is closed on Thursdays and Sundays.
