POCATELLO — Dive into a world of imagination and prehistoric sea creatures as the Idaho Museum of Natural History at Idaho State University welcomes children’s author Elizabeth Shreeve for a special event from noon to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Shreeve will be reading from two of her books “Oceans Journey” and “Out of the Blue.” Attendees will not only witness these unique aquatic stories but also enjoy themed crafts and activities. Copies of the books will be available to have signed by the author herself.
Adding a local scientific twist to the event, Dr. Leif Tapanila, museum director and paleontologist, will be on hand to answer questions about the Museum’s famous Buzzsaw Shark, connecting the region’s prehistoric past with the ocean based adventures in Shreeve’s books.
Alongside Shreeve’s eagerness to write nonfiction books for young readers that celebrate Earth’s natural history and biodiversity. She studied geology at Harvard University under renowned scientists Stephen Jay Gould and E.O. Wilson, bringing that deep knowledge of natural history into her writing.
The storytelling narrative was brought to life with vivid illustrations by artist Ray Troll, known for his dynamic, nature-inspired artwork across museums, magazines, T-shirt lines and more.
