Idaho State Police arrested a 28-year-old Idaho Falls woman Tuesday after a chase that covered 133 miles through several jurisdictions and reached speeds of up to 120 mph.

Misty L. Prestwich is charged with felony eluding, aggravated battery on law enforcement and two misdemeanor warrants from Ada County.  

Prestwich led ISP and officers from a number of other agencies on a series of pursuits after a trooper initially attempted to stop the southbound 1997 Dodge Neon she was driving for speeding on Interstate 15 near Blackfoot at about 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.   

The pursuit was called off at times when Prestwich reached speeds of up to 120 mph. The pursuit ended on westbound I-84 in Jerome County when Prestwich swerved toward a trooper and a sheriff deputy’s patrol cars, lost control of her vehicle, rolled and crashed.

Prestwich was transported to the St. Luke’s Magic Valley Regional Medical Center in Twin Falls where she was treated for minor injuries and released. 

Prestwich was booked into the Jerome County Jail, and a $201,000 bond was set in the case.     

According to ISP reports Tuesday, troopers from District 5 initiated the pursuit, which continued onto I-86, but troopers called off the chase when it reached Power County for safety concerns after Prestwich reached speeds of 80 to 100 mph.

ISP troopers from District 4 picked up the chase. Spike strips were deployed, but Prestwich managed to swerve around them before aiming her vehicle toward the officers and crashing.

According to court records, Prestwich has prior eluding charges in Bingham and Bonneville counties as well.
