Snow showers are expected to continue throughout the day as a weak storm system moves through Southeast Idaho, according to John Keyes, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.

    Light to moderate snowfall throughout the day may cause the roadways in the area to be slushy, but no major snow accumulation is expected.

    While the Snake River Plain should stay dry for the most part for the rest of the week, the upper highlands will still see some rain and snow that may occasionally dip own into the plain.

    High temperatures for the next few days are expected to be in the mid to upper forties, by the end of the week the Snake River Plain will see temperatures in the low to mid sixties.

Seven-day forecast for Pocatello:

Today: A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Breezy, with a west southwest wind between 20 and 22 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of less than one inch possible.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. West wind 8 to 14 mph becoming south southeast. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Tuesday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42. South southwest wind between 8 and 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Tuesday night: A chance of rain and snow. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Southwest wind around 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.
