Idaho State defensive back Cody Sorensen was announced as a nominee for the 2015 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team on Tuesday.

The Good Works Team recognizes a select group of college football players who are committed to volunteerism, community service and leadership.

Sorensen, a senior safety at Idaho State, has participated in numerous community service events including the Pocatello community's Shop with a Cop operation. He has also volunteered to read to local school children on Dr. Suess Day and participated in the annual Spinderella event, handing out beverages and food to riders participating in the race.

As a junior, the native of Spokane, Washington, finished fourth on ISU with 95 tackles and had two interceptions. The two-year starter has racked up 183 career tackles as he enters his final season as a Bengal.

Northern Arizona’s Dejzon Walker and North Dakota’s Dayo Idowu join Sorensen as nominees for the award from the Big Sky Conference.

From this year's record number of 197 nominees, a final roster of 22 award recipients — comprised of 11 players from the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision and 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA — will be unveiled in September.

In order to meet the criteria set forth by Allstate and the AFCA, each player must be actively involved with a charitable organization or service group while maintaining a strong academic standing.
