Patrick Clancy will give his first televised interview on "60 Minutes" on CBS News. The interview to be broadcast Sunday follows a mistrial in the Massachusetts murder case against his ex-wife, Lindsay Clancy, for killing their three children. Patrick Clancy is expected to discuss his grief and address social media conspiracy theories linking him to the deaths. His new wife, Dr. Rachel Danis, will also join him. Earlier this month, 11 of 12 jurors were ready to clear Lindsay of criminal responsibility in the XX deaths, believing she suffered from postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors have not decided whether to retry the case.
A New Hampshire judge has dismissed Pamela Smart's latest petition for a new trial. Smart is serving a life sentence for orchestrating her husband's murder by her teenage student over three decades ago. On Thursday, a Merrimack County Superior Court judge ruled her arguments lacked merit or had been addressed in previous appeals. Smart, who was 22 at the time, began an affair with a 15-year-old student who later killed her husband in 1990. The trial was one of the first to be broadcast live on television from start to finish. Her case inspired the book and film "To Die For."

Prosecutors say Nick Reiner, son of filmmaker Rob Reiner, will not face the death penalty over charges he killed his parents in Los Angeles last year. If convicted, the 33-year-old could receive life without parole. Tuesday's announcement followed a review by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office, which considered input from the Reiner family and mitigating factors. Nick Reiner has twice pleaded not guilty first-degree murder. In a statement, his public defender said prosecutors had made the right decision and highlighted Reiner's mental illness and struggles with self-medication. A trial is not expected until next year.

The chief organizer of the 2010 World Cup has been reelected president of South Africa’s soccer federation despite facing criminal charges over alleged fraud while in office. Danny Jordaan, 75, beat challenger Sandile Zungu, a South African businessman and soccer club owner, in a vote on Saturday. Jordaan has been head of SAFA since 2013 and will serve a fourth term. Jordaan has faced a series of controversies while head of SAFA. He was accused of rape in 2017 with the charges later dropped. He was arrested in 2024 and charged with fraud and theft over the alleged misuse of SAFA money and is awaiting trial.
