Preston’s Bethany Dow signed her National Letter of Intent on April 15 at Preston High to continue her basketball career at Snow College. She accepted a full-ride scholarship to the school, where she will study elementary education.

Several colleges were interested in Dow, but College of Southern Idaho and Snow were the ones she considered. After interacting with both programs and their coaches, Dow felt comfortable with both, but Snow under coach Mike Russell won out as a better fit.

“Bethany has had an interesting journey with her high school basketball career,” said Dow’s mother LeAnn.

“She has been a starter for three different schools’ varsity teams. Her sophomore year she played for the Magrath Pandas in Magrath, Alberta (Canada). Her junior year was with the Madison Bobcats in Rexburg, and this year for the Preston Indians. She has had many amazing coaches along the way; each one has contributed to her success.”

Dow was named a first-team 4A All-Idaho selection this season after scoring 17.7 points and grabbing 9.8 rebounds per game. Dow was also a first-team 4A District 4-5 all-conference selection.

“Bethany started playing at age 5 with the Junior Jazz in Provo,” LeAnn said. “At that young age, she just wanted her hands on the ball. She would steal it from whoever had it and the refs had to keep stopping the game because she was only supposed to guard the girl with the matching wristband. One of her favorite parts of the game is blocking shots.”
