Throughout the NFL season, we’ll check in with former Idaho State football players and other notable locals currently in the NFL. Here’s an update after Week 5 of the regular season.

Taysom Hill (Highland HS) — BYU, New Orleans Saints

Taysom Hill earned a start in New Orleans’ 31-24 home win over Tampa Bay on Sunday.

The Pocatello native started at wide receiver — his first start of the season. Hill finished the game with two rushes for 14 yards and completed his only pass attempt for 18 yards. He played 15 offensive snaps and five special teams snaps.

The Saints (4-1) play Sunday at Jacksonville.

Josh Hill — Idaho State (2009-12), New Orleans Saints

Former Idaho State tight end Josh Hill made three receptions for a season-high 39 yards Sunday in the Saints’ 31-24 home win over Tampa Bay.

The Blackfoot High School alumnus started and played 52 of 70 offensive snaps. For the season, Hill has eight catches for 70 yards.

The Saints (4-1) play Sunday at Jacksonville.

Dirk Koetter — Idaho State (1977, 79-81), Atlanta Falcons

A season-high 32 points weren’t enough for the Falcons in Sunday’s 53-32 loss at Houston.

Atlanta’s offense, which is coordinated by Idaho State alumnus Dirk Koetter, led 17-16 at halftime and accumulated 373 offensive yards. Quarterback Matt Ryan completed 32 of 46 passes for 330 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.

The Falcons (1-4) play Sunday at Arizona.
