The Idaho State women’s soccer team got its first glimpse of competition on Tuesday afternoon at Davis Field. The Bengals and Salt Lake Community College ended their exhibition match in a 0-0 tie.
The Bengals were aggressive with a total of nine shots on goal. Redshirt junior Michaela Didericksen and sophomore Delaney Johnston led the team with two shots on goal each.
Goalkeeper Katie Hogarth totaled three saves against the Bruins.
Idaho State plays its final exhibition game against Westminster College on August 17 at 5 p.m. in Salt Lake City.
BENGALS PICKED LAST IN PRESEASON POLL
Idaho State was picked to finish 10th in the Big Sky Conference’s preseason coaches poll, released Tuesday.
ISU received 12 points in the poll, finishing just behind ninth-place Southern Utah (15). Northern Colorado was picked to win the league with 76 points and six first-place votes.
Defending regular-season champ Weber State was slated to finish second with 67 points and three first-place votes. Reigning tournament champion Montana was picked to finish fourth. Sacramento State earned the final first-place vote and was picked seventh.
