The Idaho State cross country teams opened up the 2019 season Saturday morning at the Vivint Cross Country Invitational in Orem, Utah.
The Bengal women opened their season against runners from Southern Utah University, Utah Valley University, the University of Utah and Georgia State University.
Rachel McGovern finished first for the Bengals, finishing the 6K race in 29th place with a time of 20:01.03. The first three Bengals to finish were only separated by 0.5 seconds, with ISU's Molly Olsen finishing 30th in 20:01.5 and Katie Weedn in 31st, running a time of 20:01.7.
Haven Lambrite came in just behind the group with a time of 20:03.3, good for 32nd place.
ISU finished fourth in the five-team standings.
The Bengals men’s team opened its season against competitors from Utah Valley University and Southern Utah University.
The Bengal men placed three racers in the top 10.
D’Artangnan Kilgore finished first for the Bengals, finishing in sixth place overall with a time of 16:13.7. Joe Petty and Jesse Allen came in on his heels, finishing neck and neck at 16:14.1 and 16:14.2, respectively, in seventh and eighth place.
ISU finished second in the three-team standings.
The Bengals head north to Bozeman, Montana, on Sept. 21 for the Bozeman Running Co. Invitational.
