Idaho State opened Big Sky Conference play Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Northern Colorado at Reed Gym.

The Bears began the doubles competition with a 6-3 win at the No. 3 court, but the Bengals rallied with wins in the next two doubles matches. David Felix and Gary Rendek won at No. 2 doubles, and Peter Trhac and Fynn Lohse beat UNC's Nike Wade and Julian Kenzlers at No. 1 doubles.

In singles play, Trhac topped Kyle Pease 6-0 in the first set before Pease retired. Felix followed with a 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) victory at No. 2 singles over Julian Kenzlers. Lukas Ridemar clinched the match for Idaho State, beating Nick Wade at No. 4 singles, 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

"I'm very pleased, and now it's just a matter of regrouping and fine-tuning a few things in doubles,"  ISU coach Mark Rodel said. "We also will focus on really going back to our game plans and doing our best to follow them from start to finish."

Idaho State (3-5, 1-0 Big Sky) hosts Eastern Washington on Sunday.
