Ty Draney

Longtime coach and ultra-runner extraordinaire Ty Draney is this year’s keynote speaker for the Idaho State Journal’s Sports Stars awards banquet in Pocatello. Draney is a native of Auburn, Wyoming, and attended Idaho State University and Ricks College (now BYU-Idaho).

Draney has 18 years of ultra-running experience with wins at 50-kilometer, 100-kilometer, 50-mile and 100-mile distances. He has also coached 65 state champions, 87 all-state athletes and has led the Star Valley High School boys cross country teams to seven consecutive 3A state titles.

Draney was nominated for the 2017 National High School Coaches Association Coach of the Year and is a USA Track & Field Level 1 certified coach.
